Fleming Engineering is currently offering our popular reverse gearbox as a Builder's Kit. The kit currently includes the items in the first picture above: (1) input shaft/sun gear, (1) ring gear, (3) planet gears, (1) output shaft, (1) shift fork, and (2) retaining rings. The remaining items needed to build the gearbox will need to purchased or built by the buyer.
This kit is aimed at a buyer that owns, or has access to, a well-equipped machine shop and the experience to make quality parts. SPLINED HUBS: I have splined hubs in stock. Made in the US from 1045 steel, the same as most available sprockets. You can use the same flat sprocket for input and output. Just weld a sprocket onto the stepped part of the hub. $75, free shipping when purchased with a kit or after.
For those looking to add reverse to a rock crawler or legend car and use our gearbox, good news, Spicer makes a u-joint yoke that fits the output shaft splines. Spicer P/N 2-4-6341. Available at a few different driveline shops.
We are looking to work with a few universities and supply kits to their Baja SAE teams. If you are part of a Baja SAE team and would like to have reverse on your car, please contact me and we will offer discounts to schools. Our housing design is very modular and as part of your team project, you have free license to reconfigure the housing to suit your application. We just ask that the gear information remain private. NOTE: It is highly recommended to use a push-pull cable for shifting between forward and reverse and add detents to the shifter arm. This helps ensure the gearbox is securely in forward or reverse. Otherwise, damage may occur.

INLINE GEARBOXES: If you're looking for a gearbox for a shaft-drive engine, unfortunately my gearbox won't work unless it's a very special application. There are two companies in the UK that make inline gearboxes that would be a better starting point. I don't have experience with either, but they look like quality pieces.
