FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. Is this a complete gearbox? No, it's not, the only items included are shown in the third picture. The second and third pictures are for reference and what the gearbox will look like after you build it.
2. Can the splined shaft be used as the input? Yes it can, but reverse will be over-driven, meaning the flanged "output" shaft will be spinning 2.14x faster than the splined "input" shaft.
3. Will this gearbox work behind my (Hayabusa, R1, ZX10, etc) engine? Most likely yes, but I can't guarantee the gearbox will work behind that engine AND survive your application.
4. Can the gearbox be used in inline, shaft drive vehicles i.e. legends cars? Yes. The gearbox will need to be mounted with the output shaft pointing towards the rear axle and the flange will need to be parallel with the sprocket on the engine. Run a short chain between the transmission and reverse gearbox, then use the splined output shaft to connect to a driveshaft. Dana Spicer 2-4-6341 has the correct spline and uses a 1310 u-joint.
5. Will the gearbox work in a 4x4 buggy with a transfer case? Absolutely. The application is similar to the shaft driven application, however you don't necessarily need a driveshaft. Just connect the splined output of the gearbox directly to the input of the transfer case via a splined u-joint yoke. Dana Spicer 2-4-6341 has the correct spline and uses a 1310 u-joint.
6. What kind of maintenance does the gearbox require? Replace the oil after the first 10 hours, then every 100 hours or annually after that, whichever occurs first.
7. What is the warranty? There is no expressed or implied warranty on the gearbox. Building a kit is at your own risk, however, if there are issues with the design, we will work with you on correcting them. If you purchased a complete gearbox, we will cover any workmanship problems. Due to some projects taking longer to complete than others, we approach any warranty coverage on a case by case basis. Any coverage only applies to the original purchaser.
